Special Initiative: Weeks of service
As we embark on a new year of service, we are excited to introduce our Service Focus Weeks for 2025-2026. These weeks are designed to create a global impact by concentrating our efforts on specific causes. By aligning our service activities, we can amplify our impact and visibility, showing the world the power of collective action.
Service Focus Weeks
- MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING: October 4 - 12, 2025 Aligns with World Mental Health Day
- HUNGER: January 3 - 11, 2026, Celebrate Melvin Jones' Birthday
- ENVIRONMENT: April 18 - 26, 2026 Aligns with Earth Day
Each week of service will incorporate two weekends to allow clubs maximum flexibility in their planning. We encourage to engage our district clubs with these causes throughout the year, but during these specific weeks, we aim to create a unified, global impact.

Request letter for Bus Stop
Project SummaryThe Lions Club of Jamkhandi successfully initiated a crucial civic advocacy program by submitting a formal representation to the Depot Manager of the Jamkhandi Division. The initiative aims to establish a much-needed official bus stop at Hunnur Cross. This program was carried out with active support from the club's board of directors and local community members, marking a major milestone in public service and village welfare.Community Need AddressedHunnur Cross serves as a vital transit link for several local routes, including buses traveling from the Jamkhandi main bus stand toward Algur, Kankonawadi, and Shiraguppi. The area encompasses around 70 households whose residents, including daily wage workers, students, and elderly villagers, heavily rely on public transport to reach Jamkhandi for work, healthcare, and education. Due to the lack of an official bus stop at this specific cross, passing buses frequently bypass the location, causing severe travel inconveniences to the commuting villagers.Action Taken and Project HighlightsRecognizing this pressing public welfare issue, the leadership team of the Lions Club of Jamkhandi mobilized resources to advocate for the community. A formal petition was drafted and presented directly to the KSRTC Depot Manager. The document officially requests that clear administrative directives be issued to all bus drivers and conductors operating on the route to halt at Hunnur Cross systematically. The successfully executed program saw unified participation from the club's administrative board and key members, including:Club President: Ln. Dr. M. P. TanappagolSecretary: Ln. Er. Anand A. ChougaleTreasurer: Ln. Ramesh L. KoriKey Signatories & Board Members: S. G. Orde, Ln. C. N. Chatus, S. R. Takkannavar, Basavaraj Metri, Mahadev M. Ittannavar, M. L. Burli, B. I. Koujalagi, and U. C. Kullolli.Expected ImpactThe implementation of this requested bus stop will directly benefit hundreds of rural commuters daily, eliminating extended wait times and ensuring safe, reliable access to the city center. This successful initiative highlights the core philosophy of Lions International—"We Serve"—by bridging the gap between rural communities and civic public utilities.
